Canine Law Enforcement Accreditation Registry - C.L.E.A.R.
The Canine Law Enforcement Accreditation Registry (C.L.E.A.R.) is a non - profit organization, designed by K-9 handlers for K-9 handlers. The organization establishes universal STANDARDS that provide operational and administrative direction to K-9 units across Canada. Individual K9 units across the country maintain standards that meet the needs of their agencies. C.L.E.A.R. will not change that. C.L.E.A.R. will strengthen individual units by advocating standard policies for use Canada wide. Identifying and meeting established standards gives management guidance and a stronger voice when dealing with civil litigation. Prior to CLEAR police K9 training was one of the few areas of Canadian Law Enforcement that previously had no national regulatory board to set standards and conduct testing.
Subsequently, several agencies have united to:
- Establish standard accreditation guidelines for units to meet and maintain.
- Identify a minimum qualification for K9 trainer certification.
Webster’s Dictionary: C.L.E.A.R. ( Kler) Free from darkness, free from doubt or blame. Easily heard, distinct as a C.L.E.A.R. voice. Able to understand, as, a C.L.E.A.R. mind. C.L.E.A.R. means free from doubt or any kind of obstruction, plain and understandable. To become or to make C.L.E.A.R.; to brighten; to render evident.
